Privacy policy

Your privacy, in clear terms.

This policy explains what information Pathify uses, why it is needed, and the choices you have. Pathify is designed around data minimisation: location is used to provide area context, not to build a tracking profile.

Last updated: 16 May 2026

Who this applies to: users of the Pathify website and iOS app in the United Kingdom.

At a glance
  • Pathify uses your device location to show local safety context when you ask the app to do so.
  • Pathify does not sell personal data.
  • Pathify does not use third-party advertising trackers.
  • Pathify does not aim to store a history of where you have been.
  • You can contact us about privacy at [email protected].

1. Who is responsible for your information

Pathify is responsible for the personal data processed through the Pathify website and app. For UK data protection purposes, Pathify acts as the controller where it decides why and how personal data is used.

Contact: [email protected].

2. Information we process

Location information

The app may use your current location to calculate local area context, provide safer-route suggestions, and support journey features. Location access is controlled by iOS permissions. You can turn it off in your device settings.

Pathify is designed so that location can be processed on device where possible. We do not use location data to sell advertising or to build a marketing profile about you.

Contact information

If you email us, join a beta list, send feedback, request support, or make a privacy request, we process the name, email address and message content you choose to provide.

Device and technical information

We may process limited technical information such as app version, device type, operating system, crash diagnostics, approximate timestamps and basic server logs. This helps us keep the service reliable and investigate faults.

Purchase information

If Pathify later offers paid features, purchases are handled through Apple. Apple may provide us with limited subscription or transaction status so that the app can unlock the correct features. We do not receive your full card details from Apple.

3. Why we use information

4. Legal basis

Depending on the feature, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases under UK GDPR: your consent, performance of a contract, legitimate interests in running and improving the service, and compliance with legal obligations.

5. Sharing information

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited information with service providers who help us host, secure, analyse or operate Pathify, subject to appropriate safeguards. We may also share information if required by law, court order, regulator or to protect vital interests.

6. Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including support, security, legal and accounting needs. Support emails are normally retained for up to 24 months unless a longer period is needed to handle a dispute or legal obligation.

7. Your rights

You may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to request portability. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

8. Children

Pathify is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we design Pathify to minimise the amount of sensitive data we hold.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Pathify develops. Material changes will be reflected on this page and, where appropriate, notified in the app or by another suitable method.

Regulator: If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can contact the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
